Limerick drum circle led by John Bowker of Tribal Spirit Drumming. Exploring rhythms from Senegal with agogo bells, djembe, sabar, and shiko drums.

The aim of this video is to capture some of the fun and energy at Africa Day 2009 in Limerick, Ireland. Here John Bowker and the Tribal Spirit team 'perform' in the Tribal Spirit Way with pupils from 3 schools (Rathkeale, Salesians, Ard Scoil Ris). Each school worked with John in 2 workshops, and then the 3 groups came together for the first time on the day - now sharing the knowledge of the rhythms they had learnt. The idea was to celebrate collaboration between schools, and using music as the tool for this. The group are joined by other tribal spirit drummers (playing bell and shakers) and the audience joined in as well, singing and also playing shaker!. The project was support by University Concert Hall, Limerick.
